WHY I STARTED THATWILDKAT.COM
Getting sober was the loneliest, most difficult, painful and confusing experience of my life. I felt alone, isolated, broken and I didn't understand what was happening to me. I don't believe it has to be that way. So here I am sharing everything that I wish I knew before, things that I have learned along the way that have helped me and that is still helping me today. I hope it helps you too.
Hi, I'm Kat.
I've been wanting to start a website about alcohol abuse and sobriety for a long time. Alcohol addiction almost killed me, and it kills over 3 million people every year. Every year. And distroys countless more lives.
I believe that we need to talk about it more. That we need to understand it better. That we need to make information and help more accessible. That as a society, we need to start addressing it, destigmatizing it and finding effective ways to help those who need it before they hit rock-bottom, to prevent future generations from falling in the same traps, to save lives. The life of someone's parent, sibling, children, friend, partner, neighbor. People who never wanted to end up being consumed by substance abuse but found themselves there anyway and couldn't get out in time.
I will be sharing information that completely changed my perception of the world, addiction and sobriety. The latest scientific research about our brains, how addiction develops, mental health.
My story of overcoming alcohol abuse and all the things that fuelled it. Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Loneliness, Low Self-Esteem, Perfectionism.
Resources to get sober and stay sober.
Communities that will make you feel understood, that will empower you to fight, survive and eventually thrive.
